OIL & GAS — THE BIGGEST DRIVER. Qatar's North Field East expansion ($28.75B) remains the centrepiece of the nation's energy ambitions, adding 32 million tonnes per annum of LNG capacity with TotalEnergies, Shell, ExxonMobil, ConocoPhillips, and Eni as partners. Alongside it, Bul Hanine offshore field redevelopment ($11B) and Al-Shaheen Ru'ya field development ($6.2B) are in active project phases. Further south, North Field South and related petrochemical projects add another $16B+ to the pipeline. These projects collectively demand thousands of mechanical, piping, instrumentation, electrical, structural, and offshore manpower roles through 2027.
INFRASTRUCTURE — ASHGHAL'S QR11.5 BILLION PROGRAMME. The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) continues to award major contracts across roads, drainage, and public buildings. The 2026 programme includes major expressway upgrades, treated sewage effluent network expansions, and a QR2.8B community facilities package covering schools, health centres, and mosques across Qatar. For civil and MEP contractors, Ashghal remains the most consistent source of project awards in Qatar's non-oil sector — with roles ranging from civil foremen and surveyors to MEP technicians and site supervisors in high demand.
AVIATION & URBAN DEVELOPMENT. Hamad International Airport's ongoing Phase 2 expansion — targeting 70 million passengers per year — continues to generate construction and fit-out work throughout 2026. In urban development, Lusail City's final districts are being activated, and new hospital and healthcare infrastructure projects (including expansion of Hazm Mebaireek General Hospital) are in tender or early construction. These sectors require fit-out specialists, HVAC technicians, firefighting engineers, BMS operators, and facilities management staff in significant numbers.
